Last year we tested the Vemar VSREV helmet, distributed in the United States by MotoNation. Retailing at $300.00, the VSREV utilizes Vemar’s proprietary blend of fiberglass, carbon fiber and aramid (aka Kevlar) that Vemar calls TRICOM. The composite material is hydro-formed by a robotic process, creating a shell that’s extremely strong, yet remains relatively light. Our size XL test helmet weighed in at 3 pounds, 12 ounces. The Italian made Vemar VSREV helmet meets Euro ECE standards, is DOT certified and supplies a five-year warranty. An anti-fog, non-scratch 2.2mm thick clear shield and an anti-fog, non-scratch 2.2mm thick quick release dark tinted shield are included in the package. Additionally, the VSREV features a double density, high impact air channeled inner shell, with a removable and washable liner which has moisture-wicking properties and a treatment that prevents odor, fungus and bacteria formation. Vemar VSREV also features the exclusive “Vemar Klima” adjustable full ventilation system and is shaped to fit a round head.
We wore this helmet in all types of weather extremes, from frosty Florida mornings in January at Jennings GP to sizzling, sunny September afternoons at Pocono Raceway in PA. Through it all, the Vemar VSREV performed flawlessly. The visor never fogged, regardless of temperature or ambient humidity. The VSREV’s vents channeled cooling air across the face and head extremely well, yet with almost zero wind noise.
