Motion Pro Revolver Throttle Kit

“Digital” Traction Control

In our sport, adjustability is king.  We spend wads of cash on ultra-adjustable racing shocks and fork kits, infinitely programmable ignition and fuel injection modules, helmets offering countless scoops to vary available ventilation and optional cheek pad thicknesses for a custom fit, steering dampers and brake levers that can be tweaked on the fly with gloved hands and tire warmers with multiple temperature settings.  Why do we need so many options?  Simply put, motorcycle performance is all about the setup of your total racetrack package.  The more thoroughly you can dial everything in, the better it will work, the easier it will become to ride and the faster you will be able to go.

Contents of the Motion Pro Revolver throttle kit. There is an old saying that states, “Every bike comes with traction control.  It’s called your right wrist.”  The single most important part on your motorcycle is the throttle, which acts as the interface between man and machine.  Ironically, it’s the one piece of the equation that, until now, hasn’t been adjustable.  The Motion Pro Revolver throttle kit changes all that.  Its concept is quite simple.  You are provided with four reels, sized 5mm apart, with the smallest being 35mm and the largest being 50mm. Each progressively larger reel opens the throttle a bit faster. This allows you to customize the Revolver’s sensitivity to suit varying conditions.

Adjustability is worthless if it isn’t immediately accessible.  The Revolver’s brilliant design makes swapping from one reel to the next incredibly easy.  Simply remove the two Allen screws holding the revolver’s throttle housing together.  This allows the throttle cables to flop free, making them easy to remove.  Next, remove the reel and twist grip from the handlebar, exchange the reel and slide them back on.  Now reconnect the cables, reassemble the housing and button everything back up with the two screws.    With practice, we were able to do the swap in about two minutes.  Often, riders choose to avoid making adjustments to their machines between sessions because they worry that the bike won’t be back together fast enough to make the next call.  With the Revolver, you could actually do this swap during a Red Flag!

As important as your throttle is, it had better be well made.  The Motion Pro Revolver kit is as nice a piece as you could want and better in every detail than the stock parts it replaces.  Motion Pro has been supplying replacement cables practically since the dawn of motorcycling and was always the source for specialty go-ropes back in the days when power hungry riders replaced their stock mixers with Keihin or Mikuni racing carburetors.  A Revolver kit will be specific to the machine you install it on because it comes with custom throttle cables for your application.  Otherwise, all kits come with a beautiful aluminum housing, the four reels, the throttle barrel and a pair of handgrips.  In the case of our Suzuki, the stock throttle housing also mounts the kill switch, so we needed a different switch to work with the Revolver housing.  Motion Pro can supply an accessory switch that will replace the engine on/off and starter functions of the stock switch if your machine requires one.
