Chris, I like what you wrote, it is spot on, I was thinking all day about this topic. The crash Marco had was a crash anyone can have at anytime, and the outcome might be the same, no matter if you are a B/N group rider, or a MotoGP Racer. Unfortunately there are risks and the risks can be giving your most valuable Asset, your life. But why do we do it over and over again? Because we love it and so did Super Sic. The only think we know, is that he left doing what he loved.
Collin and Vale have my prayers as well, it must be the worst thing you can experience, if you are part of a tragic event that take your friend away for ever. |

Agreed, Stef. My heart aches for those involved. At the same time, I think of all the people in this sport who I know, love and ride with. We "Track Friends" have a very special bond. This tragedy in MotoGP is a vivid reflection of our own worst fears. Right now, on this sad day, it's not hard to imagine losing someone from our own group. I guess that all we can do is to never, ever take each other or the time we share for granted.

Chris, I agree. Very nicely put. This is a very serious sport, your right. The highs are euphorically high....and the lows tend to fade with time as denial sets back in. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family and friends. We as riders and racers often lose sight of the ones around us who put up with our addiction to this awesomely wicked sport, even though they don't understand it. It has been a very sad week in motorsports.
Godspeed Marco, Dan, Bryan and all their friends and families. |

I don't know about you guys, but I keep hopping on the internet in hopes of some news that say Simoncelli made it, after all.
And I keep hoping that it's all just a bad dream and that i will wake up any moment. it's just so so sad

I was reading all the FB post about it and was like: what NO, I can't believe it...
than I watched the downloaded race all the way to the end and hoped that they said he is ok... They said on eurosport that he gained conscious, my buddy told me that he read somewhere that they tried to reanimate him for 45min... |

Yeah, i watched the official press conference on youtube. The hope just won't leave me alone.
It could have just ended in a lowside...

Hard to get his face out of my mind all day. I saw him up close at the Indianapolis MotoGP a couple years ago. He was hard to miss with that hair and it was clear that he had a large following of adoring fans.

Frank, I consent. Very perfectly put. This is a very serious game, your right. The peaks are euphorically high....and the levels usually reduce with time as refusal places back in. My ideas and wishes go out to him and his buddies and close relatives. We as bikers and competitors often forget the ones around us who put up with our habit to this perfectly evil game, even though they don't comprehend it. It has been a very sad weeks time in motor racing.
